By request;
Copying and transmitting a CD (to yourself) via the internet

Step one decide between mp3 and CD. MP3s (~4Mb) are generally about 1/10th of the size of Wav (uncompressed audio) (~40Mb), but you lose a little quality (there are better compressions than the ubiquitous mp3, ogg vorbis for instance).

To rip the audio off a CD try one of these. (I like open source (amongst other things it's free)) so try this.
this can rip the wav off the CD onto your hard drive and then, if you want it to, encode it in mp3.

You can then upload this to a file storage site such as Yahoo or 100megsfree.
Some people wont let you store mp3s, if this is the case rename them from "name.mp3" to "name.tmp" before you upload it. After you've downloaded it rename it again to "name.mp3"
If you need more space look for other file storage sites. Setting up some temporary email addresses and using them to open more accounts is naughty. Make sure no-one else gets your user name and password or they could get your files.

One for the geeks and two games.

Stupid Computer Tricks. You must have heard stories about people who use their cd drive as a cup holder. Well that's only the start. No-one beleived the stories this computer repair guy was telling; So he took photos, and put them online.
My fav is the one with the credit cards in the floppy drive :)

Game 1, Trogdor!
You are a dragon who needs to squash villagers to build up fire to burn their cottages. Watch out for the knights and archers!

Game 2, JSimThe flash based juggling simulator. Very pretty.

Thursdays webcomicGPF

Started (in '98) as a new employee joins GPF software. Lots of geeky jokes and jokes about geek stereotypes (The mess in Fooker's (Who never wears long trousers) appartent gives birth to a sentient slime mold. Most plot arcs lasted a few weeks. It lasted in this form for a long time (with occasional sureal moments and a love triangle).
Untill year 4 (nov, 2001-nov,2002) when the Surreptitious Machinations story line started. It lasted the whole year and tied up a lot of loose ends from the previous three years.
iirc this and Sluggy Freelance are the only two webcomics (which I read (or have heard of)) which the author makes a living off.

I thought that yesterdays case modder was great, but this ... wow! How to bulid a PC in a NES case. How cool is that.

BBC 3 brings you Blob Lander. Based on the old spaceship lander games, but with the bbc 3 blob. um, that's about it, quite fun though.

One for the geeks and a game. (more tomorow)

How a geek gets their bling bling. I saw this on 2 other link of the days before I went there but it rocks! This guy mods computer cases, and they look ... well shiny, with flashy lights, and in one case a plasma ball!

A Light Racer game bassed on the game in TRON. It's really great. It's sort of like snake (for all you nokia users) but with multiple snakes. It's great!
