Avoiding giving out personal details.

Bug Me Not Bypass Compulsory Web Registration. For all those sites like nytimes.com that require you to enter a load of (often faked) demographic data to be allowed to read their site, just go to bug me not and get a password.

Alternativly use a Disposable Email address that will stop working in 24 hours (preventing spammers from getting hold of you).
Another Spam avoiding site allows you to use any email address at mailinator.net, but lets anyone access it and deletes all messages in 24 hours, and only stores ten for each address.
Spammotel allows windows user to send email from a disposable email address.
There are many disposable email services for you to choose from.
